Registration list after the Welsh Xtrem.

It is 9th of March today, the Welsh Xtrem has finished and the winners are Duncan Smith and Henry Papworth. They received a free participation
for the Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2016. We are very happy we had the Welsh Xtrem as our partner and we hope this will be
just a beginning.

With Duncan and Henry included, we now have exactly 55 teams registered for the Wild Boar Valley Challenge. Out
of those 55 teams, 33 have received benefits for our race. Don’t worry, they are not special. they just followed
our guidelines for getting those benefits. It is very easy to do it.

So if you already registered, please check your email again and see what has to be done. Or contact emilio@kamookovidi.com.

If you still didn’t fill in the registration form, you can go to this link to register for the race and wait for our email
to get the benefits.

There’s 7 months left and the number of teams will be limited to 60. Please bear in mind that we already have 55 teams
registered, so hurry up if you want to be with us from October 16 to 22!

Best regards from the Kamo Oko Vidi off road club, Buzet, Croatia.

Sponsor of WBVC -Wilderness Lighting

We had a fair share of sponsors during the last 10 years of the Wild Boar Valley Challenge. But things have changed for 2016 edition. Don’t get me wrong, all the sponsors are still with us and ready to back up our race but…

All in all, it is important for us (and you) to gather quality OFF ROAD sponsors, after all, it is a 4×4 race. So for this year we prepared a number of sponsors ready to provide you with the best aftermarket parts in Europe! Today, we are presenting you Wilderness Lighting!

The unbeatable toughness & durability of Wilderness lights means they are ideally suited for Extreme off road motorsport. Whatever the application these lights are used for, they will not let you down, the incredible levels of illumination from even the smallest of lights far exceeds the ageing HID and Halogen counterparts & the cheaper, poor quality LEDs that we all see advertised on auction sites.

The build quality & robustness put Wilderness lights in the class of there own. Very few lights out in the market today have water & dust proof rating of IP68 & IP69K which is the highest standard available combined with class leading Grade A CREE & OSLON LED chips.

Wilderness Lighting were the first supplier to offer a 3 year ‘no quibble’ guarantee due to the undying belief in having the toughest quality product in the market.

Photo and Video at the WBVC

Same as our sponsors, a huge job for the WBVC is done by our friends from the press centre. We are proud to announce that more and more photographers / journalist / videomakers are coming to our race each year. We would like to present you a great team from the Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2015. After all, these are the people that present the quality of our race!

Damiano d’Ambrosio (4x4mafia.net) – Damiano is a guy with a long history in the world of off roading, he is one of the first who realized the quality of WBVC years ago. A great Italian video producer with a lot of experience. He visits a huge number of off road races. And he’s enjoying it!

Inge Bloeming (4x4Het Noorden) – Same as Damiano, she was attracted to Buzet and Wild Boar Valley Challenge years ago. A photographer that will make every photo look alive. She usually visits and reports from Dutch competitions, but for her there’s something more to WBVC than just off roading.

Emilio Mocibob (ME 😀 – extreme4x4.eu) – I’ve been writing about Croatian off road since 2009. At the time a Croatian website was active and it was always interesting to follow the WBVC. But it is easier to present the Wild Boar all over the world with the new website (in English).

a
Dion Den Braber
– (4x4media.nl) – A video producer from Netherlands. It seems Dutch people are crazy about WBVC (competitors and press). Running around and looking for a perfect opportunity – He’s doing a great job with his camera.

Marc Stoffels
(M-Pictures Photography) – Belgian pro photographer – “It is hard to survive just by doing off road photography, but this is what I love!”. There’s nothing nothing neutral or bad to say about Marc – He’s doing a good job and that’s it!

Robb Pritchard (Offroad The Planet) – It is never too late to visit the WBVC and realize the quality, 2015 edition was his first time visiting and reporting from Buzet. We hope he’ll come again and do what he does best – off road reporting.

Martin Brink (Terrein.nu) – And there’s this guy from Netherlands, he hasn’t visited the WBVC for a while but we hope he’ll come back. He was doing a good job while he was in Buzet. Čevapčići are waiting for you!

the Welsh Xtrem – partner WBVC 2016

Its been a while since we updated everyone on the on going activities but you all will be pleased to know Welsh Xtrem is making progress.
The format was released and is available for viewing this giving people a insight into what this years event is about and thus after much discussion hopefully bring the event back to its initial aim.

As you already know, Welsh Xtrem will be partnering in 2016 with the Wild Boar Valley Challenge. The winner of the Welsh Xtrem will get a free participation for the Wild Boar valley Challenge. It is a great opportunity for us to attract competitors from UK. Wild Boar Valley Challenge is a high quality race, but UK is pretty far away so it’s not easy to come here.

The Welsh Xtrem is a very well known race, they accept only 30 teams and the places are taken. There’s some strong names on the list. Also, five teams on the reserve list are an important proof the Welsh Xtrem is a high quality race, just like the Wild Boar valley Challenge.

Well, we’ll see what happens! The Welsh Xtrem will be held from 4th to 6th of March 2016!

Sponsor of the WBVC – Donkey Beadlocks

We had a fair share of sponsors during the last 10 years of the Wild Boar Valley Challenge. But things have changed for 2016 edition. Don’t get me wrong, all the sponsors are still with us and ready to back up our race but… All in all, it is important for us (and you) to gather quality OFF ROAD sponsors, after all, it is a 4×4 race. So for this year we prepared a number of sponsors ready to provide you with the best aftermarket parts in Europe! Today, we are presenting you Donkey internal beadlocks!

The Donkey Beadlock system is like a tire in the tire. It divides the tire into two chambers separated from one another lying in the lower and upper region.
The outer / upper part of the tire is over supplied via the air duct / Bypass on Beadlock with air.

The tire pressure can go from (3 bar) to low pressure in extreme terrain (0,4 bar). it cany vary a lot.
It is necessary to drill an additional hole in the rim around the tube that sits inside the bead lock to inflate it with air.

Internal Donkey beadlock system is relatively easy to understand, but it is also very efficient. When inflated, the smaller tube pushes the tyre to the edges of the wheels and doesn’t let the tyre to slip out of the rim. Even when the tyre is less inflated and under extreme load.

There are two important things about Donkey beadlocks

  • normal aluminium or steel wheel can be used (all you have to do is drill one more hole to inflate the tube/beadlock)

  • balancing of wheels is not a problem at all

Sponsor of the WBVC – Istrialand.eu

We had a fair share of sponsors during the last 10 years of the Wild Boar Valley Challenge. But things have changed for 2016 edition. Don’t get me wrong, all the sponsors are still with us and ready to back up our race but…

All in all, it is important for us (and you) to gather quality OFF ROAD sponsors, after all, it is a 4×4 race. So for this year we prepared a number of sponsors ready to provide you with the best aftermarket parts in Europe! Today, we are presenting you Istrialand.eu!

Istrialand is an agency specialized in outdoor adventures at various locations (Africa, Balkans, Istria etc.). Francesco Meriani and Antonela Gardos have been doing the job for 20 years. It is a long tradition with excellent quality!

It all started in 1996, after Yugoslavia fell apart, Franz and Antonela started with organization of off road adventures all over Croatia and ex Yugoslavia.

After some time and experience, they now offer MTB and Enduro tours. Whether you want it soft or hard, they have it.

A great off road choice is available. Such as 6 Nations Raid Trieste-Tirana or Balkan Express Tirana – Sofia, or maybe Plitvice!

Their complete offer now:

  • “Al Merlo Olivo”, Bed and Breakfast with an  active “full of fun” weekend or vacation

  • 4×4, enduro or MTB adventures

Welsh Xtrem to give a free participation for WBVC 2016

After a few years of relatively low number of teams competing at the Wild Boar Valley Challenge, this edition opened our minds and eyes. We realized that the Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2016 has an opportunity to gather a huge number of international teams.

A few quads competed at the Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2015 and a few 4×4 drivers gave up after they realized their car isn’t equipped good enough for the Challenge (lighter) class.
That is why we prepared 2 classes (both quad and 4×4) for next year, with precisely defined rules. The Wild Trophy class will more or less look the same (see photos from 2015). For the 4×4 vehicles in the Challenge class winches are mandatory, AT tires are mandatory, but MT tires are strongly recommended. Lift is needed, whether you like it or not (but not mandatory).

As a part of our marketing campaign that will gather a bigger number of teams, we decided to promote the Wild Boar Valley Challenge on some events in Europe. For starters, at the Welsh Xtrem (see website) will give a free participation for the WBVC 2016. If you are there at Welsh Xtrem from 6th to 8th of March 2016, you can contact any of the marshals and register through a printed flyer they will give you. They will send us your data, so we can contact you for further details.

If you want to make it simpler – just go to the registration form on this website. Thank you for your time and see you at the WBVC 2016. !!!

Wild Boar Valley Challenge Report 2015

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death… with a few minor changes, these lyrics from the Gangsta’s Paradise song by Coolio perfectly describe the prayers of competitors when climbing through the Blue Moon Canyon at the Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2015 in Buzet, Croatia. Along with water, mud, rocks, narrow forest paths, the Blue Moon Canyon is just one of many different obstacles.

IMG_13321

Heavy rain before the Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2015 did exactly what it was supposed to do. It brought hell to all the vehicles, especially on the prologue and the circle race that was held at the race course in a place near Buzet called Škuljari. Quiet, crystal clear water in a small creek and nice forest on a hill. It looks so calm during the foggy morning.
And then… hell breaks loose. One at a time, they start for the hard prologue, everything still looks OK. Oh, but after the circle race with a masive start… it’s like a warzone…
The first roadbook of the Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2015 was just an intro for the next few days. It was mainly driven on the Ćićarija mountain. Narrow forest paths and rocks weren’t technically so hard, but diff locks and strength of the winch was of utmost importance.

12046769_530913740404475_1450959540538016883_n

This little Italian Suzuki never made it to the finish of the race. But the performance of many high budget V8 cars was even poorer.
As i said, the ideal car for the Kamo oko vidi Wild Boar Valley Challenge doesn’t exist. It’s the spirit of the team that drove this car almost to the end, After working all night to repair the broken halfshaft and front differential , their performance was great. Unfortunately, they had to retire a few days later due to problems with finding the right spare parts.
12112371_1003954346337186_8626567923667382430_n
Unlike the first roadbook, the Blue Canyon challenge on the third day of the Kamo Oko Vidi race was extremely hard.
More than 56 km long, seventy percent of it was just winching through narrow passages and high marble cliffs. Spectators and press that have been coming here for years agreed that this edition of the Blue Canyon roadbook was probably one of the best off road scenes in the history of Wild Boar Valley Challenge.
There was only one team capable of finishing the Blue Moon canyon without winching. It was Hajdu Offroad team from Hungary. This obviously wasn’t mission impossible. But close enough.

10329110_1003956996336921_4507422990252003629_n

This is Luca Fontani in his Ultra4 Buggy. You would say he’s going to inish. But that wasn’t the case. He is coming back next year with another car for winch challenges.
The roadbooks at the Wild Boar valley Challenge are organized very good, each has several points for the press and spectators. Everyone get the coordinates, so they can move during the day and follow the competing vehicles. The most interesting part of the third roadbook was the Močane canyon.

11012641_1005394429526511_3957499516588719655_n_800x533

Eibesnsteiner / Deutschmann finished the Wild Boar Valley Challenge on the second place.
The Super Extreme special stage on the last day of racing didn’t change anything in the final standings. But it sure was a real treat for the spectators, press and the competitors. It was held in Škuljari all over again, this time a different route was prepared… Four huge mud trenches to choose, up the hill through the forest and back down.
The Super Extreme special stage on the last day of racing didn’t change anything in the final standings. But it sure was a real treat for the spectators, press and the competitors.
The Wild Boar Valley Challenge 2015 race was consisted of 5 roadbooks, a circle race in the beginning and the Super Extreme special stage on the last day.
After a few years at this race I can only say: Due to the variety of terrain, my only conclusion is – the ideal car for this race doesn’t exist.
This race deserves more than it has. Next year a soft class will be available too. We sincerely hope to see you in October 2016
